Captivated by the Rockies: Larch

Banff, Alberta, Canada

September 23-26, 2020 (Postponed due to COVID-19)

Facilitated by: Gina Yeo

Join me this coming September 2020 for a ladies' landscape retreat of a lifetime. As a native Calgarian, I've spent my life exploring the Canadian Rocky Mountains. As a landscape photographer, I'm thrilled to be able to share my knowledge about these stunning mountain ranges with you as I teach you how to photograph these awe-inspiring views with skill and creativity.

September is larch season. Larches are coniferous trees that look like evergreens during the summer months. In the fall, these stunning trees turn yellow and shed their needles. The colour of these beautiful trees combined with the captivating colours of the fall season alongside the stunning turquoise waters of the Canadian Rockies draws the attention of people from all over the world. Being local to the Canadian Rocky Mountains, I will ensure we make the most of our time together as we photograph the best this beautiful season has to offer!

You will undoubtedly return home with improved landscape photography skills, enhanced creative ideas, images you'll be proud to share and print and priceless memories and friendships that you'll treasure for your lifetime.

I'm thrilled to have the honour to spend time with you and teach you in September! See you then!

Should you have any questions please contact me at [email protected].

Warmly,

Gina.

What is a ladies' landscape photography retreat like?

In November 2019, Enchantment in the Rockies was held as a four-day landscape photography retreat based out of Banff, Alberta, Canada. We settled into the Moose Hotel and Suites, a beautiful and atmospheric base in the heart of Banff, on a sunny but wintery day. Over the next few days, we captured the sunset at Two Jack Lake and photographed beneath star-studded skies at Vermilion Lakes in Banff. We took in a breathtaking sunrise at Lake Louise, photographed under beautiful crisp winter sunlight at Bow Lake and enjoyed a surreal sunset and another starry and moonlit night at Emerald Lake. The next morning, we ventured back to Vermilion Lakes, where we photographed a stormy yet colourful sunrise then embraced more mood at Minnewanka. On our last morning together, Castle Mountain made us wait, but our patience paid off when the light broke through, creating a burst of colourful beauty amidst a dynamic mood. Johnston Canyon did not disappoint and showed off its beautiful icy canyon and frozen waterfalls. Best of all, we enjoyed learning together while we laughed. The memories made and the images created will be treasured forever.

Testimonials

"I turned 30 this year and wanted to do something special to celebrate that. When I heard that Gina and Kristen would be teaming up to offer a retreat in Banff, I knew it was just the thing. I was so excited when I got in! It was an amazing experience with 13 other women who all were excited by landscape photography. Since Gina practically grew up in the Rockies, she was very knowledgeable about the best places to be shooting in the given lighting conditions. Gina and Kristen offered just the right amount of support - providing technical guidance as needed and encouraging us to try various techniques and compositions. I loved every minute of it and would really recommend Enchantment in the Rockies!" Kaitlyn Heaton.

"The Enchantment in the Rockies retreat was an incredible experience. I learned so much and had an amazing time doing something I love with other like-minded talented women. It was such a fun experience. Enchantment in the Rockies was completely magical and life changing. I hope to go again someday!" Jessica Purvis.

Let me share my home with you! I grew up in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and to this date I spend as much time as possible in these ranges. The Rockies are apart of who I am today. As a landscape photographer I'm fortunate to live within a short distance to these awe inspiring and impressive mountain ranges. As a landscape photography educator I’m thrilled to be able share my love for and knowledge about landscape photography with retreat participants in these stunning mountain ranges.
